Visitors Guide to the Vineyard

Welcome to Engelheim Vineyard!

We are Engelheim Vineyards located in Ellijay, Georgia. This is a family run business with the owner and his children and grandchildren all taking part.

In 2007, the land was bought by owner/operator Gary Engel and his wife after he retired from the Army. Though he spent 27 years in the Army, earning the rank of Colonel, he decided it was time to get back to his roots which involved farming. Just two years after buying the land were the first vines planted in 2009. It is important to note here that it takes several years for the vine to fruit.

In 2014, the tasting room was opened! The building and interior were designed in a German style. The name Engelheim itself is German translating into Angel Home. We focus on creating a sustainable future in wine production.

Our Wines

We are an estate winery meaning we grow all the grapes that are used in our wines. Everything is produced in-house. There are 15 acres of grapes including Venus vinifera varietals. The 11 varietals on site help in the creation of over 15 wines from straight varietals to blends. Several of our wines have received awards at the San Francisco Wine Competition.
